Digital Story Board

iBelieve

While thinking about myself as a curent educator  and where I saw my career in the future in regards to my students, I created a video using animoto to dsiplay ways in which I saw technology in my classroom. Also to demonstrate how that related to my beliefs about teaching and my classroom currently and in the future. The link to the video can also be found here: iBelieve.  In addition to the iBelieve video I utilized emaze to display a digital presentation on my perspective of urban education and how my views on education in regards to underptivilaged youth shape and mold me as a culturally competent educator.

Every student has a story and I captured some of the "stories" or learning experiences of my first graders through the creation of a Digital Story Board. A Digital Story Board is a means of using pictures and videos to support the oral telling of  story. The Story Board in this particualar example highlight the journey my first graders took to preserve the planet they live in and complete community service in their community. Additionally I created a Story Board that highligthed my research interest in urban areas.

Meeting the needs of the 21st century, IB learner require meeting student in a digital world. One way in which I attempted to keep my students engaged is through creating an online lesson plan that could be completed independently. The lesson was designed to serve as a sample for the virtual learner. The lesson covered poetry and included media such as videos and digital copies of literature, the example can be found here. Additionally, I designed a Weebly site to display my work through internship year thourgh the use of digital media (photos) and other technologies.

Screencast is a way to bring lessons to students in their home with the feel of the teacher being right in the room with them. The flipped classroom perspective is a paradigm in which students focus on learning the lesson in the comfort of their home and then taking time in class to focus on more hands on experiences. Screen capturing technologies such as Camtasia and Screensast-O-Matic are used to bring lessons to students through voiceover and the ability to walk through lessons with students. An example of both a flipped classroom lesson and the use of screencapturing technologies can be found here.  In addition to the previously mentioned technologies, Jing is another technology that I utilized to plan lessons using screencapturing techniques, an example can be found here

LaShawn's Technology Inspired Showcase

As an educator who has taught both, general education and special education at both the upper and lower elemtary level, I seek to find ways to bring technolgoy to all of my students and to do so in a meaningful way that meet the needs of them as both 21st Century Learners and International Baccalaurete learners. The following showcase is a look into some of the means in which I integrated the various technologies that I explored in the MAET Program into my personal and proffessional life. While I explored various technologies through the MAET Program I noticed that technologies such as Weebly, Animoto, YouTube, Camtasia, and iMovie were all useful in my teaching and learning.
