Summer 2014

CEP 800 Learning in School and Other Settings

Instructors: Danah Henrickson, William Cain, & Joshua Rosenberg

CEP 800 was a course that allowed me to really explore more audio and video technologies. I had the opportunity to develop a podcast and even a video project in which I addressed the topic of slang and Black English in the educational setting. The course provided the opportunity to apply knowledge of video and audio technologies to not only the classroom setting but in other avenues that could be applied to potential positions. Working on the projects in this course took a spin by focusng on the various aspects in psychology that affect how learning occurs amongst students.

Fall 2014

CEP 807 Capstone Educational Technology

Instructors:  Matthew Koehler, Spencer Greenhalgh, Sarah Keenan, and Brittany Dillman

This course focuses on building a digital portfolio in which my work throughout my Master's in Education (MAET) Program is displayed, along with other various aspects of my current career. The task in this course allow me to expand on some of my other courses that focused on course design, accessibility, and various technologies. This course allowed me to "test out" platforms for a digital portfolio and to also use the various features of Wix to better display my work and my personal interest. Overall, this course was a means to "summarize" or "retell" my experience through my master's program.

CEP 822 Approaches to Educational Research

Instructors: Leigh Graves Wolf and Benjamin Gleason

I am currently taking this course and this is the course in which I am designing my RAP (research proposal)Project. My RAP project is an opportunity for me to focus on researching a topic of my interest, which is on the college going rates of minority students. Through this project I am able to think about my future goals in education and professionally. This course also focuses on research in various forms of collecting data and how to compose that data in a manner that would best address the needs of my audience.

Summer 2013

CEP 810 Teaching Understanding with Technology

CEP 811 Adapting Innovative Technology to Education

CEP 812 Apply Educational Technology to Practice

Instructors: Craig McMichael, Laura Terry, & Leigh Wolf

The above three courses are listed together as the courses were taken together in the Hybrid Format. Essentially, the course material sufficed the requirements for all the courses individually through one hybrid format. I spent 3 weeks, 8 hours a day in the classroom and spent the remaining four weeks of the semester fulfilling course requirements online. The course consisted of quickfires (small task that introduced new technologies) and small group projects, along with more in depth projects that required research of new technologies and formal presentations. This course also gave me a new perspective on the use of social media and it opened my eyes to how social media can be used to advance students in the school settng, not just in their after school lives.

Spring 2014

CEP 815 Technology and Leadership

Instructors: Leigh Graves Wolf, Benjamin Gleason, & Joshua Rosenburg

The focus of this course was on leaders within technology and how different leaders have different leadership styles; furthermore, how those leadership styles affect the decisions that technology leaders make to affect the businesses or schools. The course also focused on utilizing leadership in areas outside of education, as well. Overall, this course focused on how to be a successful leader in the field of technology and outside of the realm of a school setting.

CEP 820 Teaching Students Online

Instructors: Anne Heintz & Sandra Sawaya

CEP 820 provided me with an opportunity to choose a course management system (CMS) to deliver instruction for my elementary aged students, first graders in particular. I chose to develop a Weebly site that addressed the concept of a hybrid class for elementary aged students. The CMS that was created incorporated technologies such as YouTube and Screencapturing to teach students in a k12 setting. This course provided a great deal of exposre to web design and finding ways to bring a hybrid course to life.
